Frozen Frontier Hockey Festival

One of the great things about following the AHL is the amount of innovation that goes on.
The game is harder to sell at the farm team level than in the NHL and as a consequence new marketing and promotional idea’s are always being used.

One such exciting concept is an outdoor festival just announced by the Rochester Americans.
The “Frozen Frontier” will take place between the 13-22 December and feature at least ten teams.
The rink will be built inside Frontier Field, which plays host to Triple-A baseball team the Rochester Red Wings

Kicking of proceedings will be the Rochester Americans as they take on the Lake Erie Monsters in a regulation AHL fixture.
The RIT Tigers (Rochester Institute of Technology) will take the ice the following day, with both the Mens and Womens team getting the chance to compete.
To finish off the weekends proceedings will be a Sabres/Amerks Alumni game which should be an interesting rivalry to witness.
Other fixtures are still to be confirmed but the promise from the president of the Rochester Americans is that every level of hockey possible will be showcased at this festival.

You may imagine a hike in prices for an event like this but for the Amerks game they range from $15-$35. Sabres and Amerks season ticket holders will have first opportunity to purchase tickets which are due to go on sale September 21st. Provisional prices for the other games are $10-$15 dollars which is
very reasonable.

More details will follow in the next few weeks and can be found at
